In terms of making the dash ability was somewhat easy but i had more trouble with trying to add a material when the character model disappears. At the end i decided to use a boring white sparks that were available in the project.
Later i plan on implementing this dash ability to a 2D character I'm setting and try to make a very simple roguelike game but until then i wanted to see if i could make a dash ability. The reason i made a dash ability was because i thought it would be super fun to just zip around the map, i mean hypothetically say your playing a roguelike adventure game and enemies are swarming around you but since you have a dash ability you can just zip and dash around while killing giving a certain satisfaction just seeing chaos in the screen. Honestly when i think about it it feels like I'm in a action movie just going around fighting enemies while zipping around before they can react.
I had a friend test out the dash ability i made. They said they like it but to also increase the speed and distance the player travels and i pretty much knew that it was slow but i wanted to adjust the speed because i made some jumping obstacles to play with but it would just zip you around really fast with increase momentum after you reappear making you slide and not being able to land properly.
